The different timeline types
Cumulative Timeline
The cumulative timeline lets you see at a glance the evolution over time of the number of documents related to your search topic.
The cumulative timeline adapts according to the filters selected: the curve represents the number of documents meeting all the selected filters.
Clicking on a point opens the document panel, displaying the documents related to the date and filters selected.
Compared timeline
The comparative timeline lets you analyze entities, countries, keywords and relationships over time: a curve representing a selected filter over time.
For this view to appear, you must :
- Click on "Options" at the top right of the widget, then on "Compare"
- Select at least one relationship, keyword, entity or country to start your analysis.
Clicking on a point will open the document panel, displaying documents related to the date and filter represented in this curve.
Options
Time intervals
Several intervals are available to refine this view: daily, weekly, monthly, yearly.
Please note that, to optimize reading, certain intervals will not be available depending on the period selected: if your selected period is 10 years, for example, the "daily" view will be blocked.
Date choice
By clicking on Options at the top right of your widget, you can choose the date you wish to display on the x-axis: publication date, mentioned date, priority date (patent engine), project date (Cordis engine).
Exclusion (cumulative view)
Only available for cumulative views, you can click on the labels in the widget legend to exclude data from the view: in the example below, Canada has been removed, so the Canada bar will not appear in the widget but will remain in the filters.
