Why create a position map?
The purpose of creating such a map is to be able to easily identify the pure players, leaders and followers of a market.
In this example, we want to compare the positioning of some companies in two distinct but related markets: space and defence. Using a list of at least twenty companies, we need to create two maps using the keywords for the two markets studied.
Within each search, select the actors on your list one by one and identify their volume of communication for each topic.
You can refer to the Dashboard view (Top 25 Key Facts) or the Documents view.
Using the information collected, you can create a position map with the volume of communication of each market : one on the x-axis and the other one on the y-axis.
In this way you can see that the companies who communicate a lot in both markets are leaders, those who only communicate on one subject are pure players in their field, and those who have little communication on both subjects are followers.
